The guy in the left is working on 6-inch nails which he is hammering into shape.
Those nails will be used for the main frame of a Dhau: they will connect keel with ribs and must be able to take a beating in rough weather. The usual round nails wouldn´t suffice; the blacksmith´s nails have a four-sided shape.
A boy is responsible for supplying the furnace with air. It is very hot and a tough job for the young lad.
The sea with the Dhau harbor is only a few metres away. Many coastal villages have still somebody who works part-time as a blacksmith.
